Rohit Sharma on utilizing MS Dhoni for T20 WC

During a conversation on the “Club Prairie Fire” podcast, Sharma was asked about the possibility of Dhoni’s return for the T20 World Cup. Sharma responded by saying, “It will be hard to convince MS Dhoni for the T20 World Cup. He is sick and tired. He is coming to the US to play golf, these days he is into golf.”

Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2020, continues to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has been instrumental in winning matches for Chennai Super Kings. Despite his retirement, Dhoni’s recent performances in the IPL have led to speculation about his potential return to the international arena.

Sharma acknowledged Dhoni’s recent exploits in the IPL, particularly his impactful unbeaten knock of 20 off 4 balls that secured victory. However, he humorously pointed out the logistical challenges of convincing the former captain to play in the West Indies.

In contrast, Sharma expressed that it would be easier to convince Dinesh Karthik for the T20 World Cup. Karthik’s recent form in the IPL puts him in contention for the wicketkeeper’s role in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

The anticipation for the T20 World Cup is further heightened by the upcoming match between India and Pakistan at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in New York. The historical context adds to the excitement, with India having a commendable record against Pakistan in T20 World Cup encounters.
