The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has put the world to a standstill. Sporting events around the world have either been cancelled or postponed their season.

Even the Olympic games which were scheduled to take place this year have been postponed till 2021. This has resulted in athletes who have already qualified for the Olympics getting extra time for preparation.

However, while the sporting world has been largely affected, our frontline workers are the hardest hit by this pandemic.

Two dozen athletes -including several Olympic medallists and international champions– have come together to salute the essential service workers of India fighting the coronavirus pandemic. The campaign features Olympic bronze medallist boxers Mary Kom and Vijender Singh, along with sprinter Hima Das, TT player Manika Batra, weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, and Indian hockey captains Manpreet Singh and Rani Rampal, among others. The aim of the campaign, which has been an initiative of sports management firm IOS Sports & Entertainment, is to express solidarity with the corona warriors and hope that India will emerge victorious in the battle against the pandemic by working together.
