The World Race Walking Team Championships 2024 in Antalya, Turkey, witnessed a remarkable achievement by the Indian pair of Priyanka Goswami and Akshdeep Singh. They secured a quota for the 2024 Paris Olympics in the Mixed Marathon Race Walking Relay event.

The duo finished 18th overall in the mixed marathon race walking relay event, clocking a time of 3:05:03. This performance was enough to secure their place in the upcoming Paris Olympics, marking a significant milestone in their careers and Indian athletics.
While Goswami and Singh booked the quota, their compatriots Paramjeet Singh Bisht and Munita Prajapati missed the Paris quota after finishing 35th with a timing of 3:09:58.
The Mixed Marathon Race Walking Relay is a new event that will make its debut in the Paris Olympics. The format involves a team of two athletes competing in four legs alternately. The first leg of 12.195 km is covered by the male athlete, followed by the next 10 km by a woman. The final 20 km is shared equally between the two athletes, with the woman taking the final 10 km to finish the race.

In the women’s 20km race walk, Pooja Kumawat led the Indian contingent by finishing 42nd in 1:40:27. Manju Rani (43rd), Mokavi Muthurathinam (44th), Ramandeep Kaur (49th) and Payal (50th) also finished in the top 50.
For the Indian men, there was a promising sixth-place team finish behind Spain, Japan, Italy, Mexico, and China. The trio of Vikash Singh, Paramdeep Singh, and Gurpreet Singh posted solid individual performances.
