Rohit Sharma’s recent return to form has been a welcome development for both the Mumbai Indians and the Indian cricket team. Although it may have come too late for the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL season, it bodes well for India’s prospects in the upcoming T20 World Cup. The legendary Sunil Gavaskar expressed his optimism about Rohit’s performance.

Sunil Gavaskar is happy about Rohit Sharma’s return to form

Earlier in the season, Rohit struggled to find consistency, with several single-digit scores after a brilliant 105 not out against the Chennai Super Kings. However, in the final game of the season, Rohit found his rhythm again with a blistering 38-ball 68, including three massive sixes. Gavaskar, speaking on Star Sports Cricket Live, shared his delight.

“Well, that was such a nice thing to see. Look, we know that Mumbai Indians can’t qualify, but to see Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain for the T20 World Cup starting in about 15 days’ time, batting the way that he has, it’s very heartening. That’s exactly what you want. You want Rohit Sharma to be setting the team off to a good start, so that the lower-order batters can come in and finish it off, potentially getting 200-plus every time they play.”

India is set to head to the USA this month-end, where they will face Bangladesh in a warm-up match before beginning their T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland in New York on June 5. Rohit’s resurgence adds a positive dimension to India’s batting lineup, and fans eagerly await his performance on the world stage.
