A day that started with Messi getting knocked out of the World Cup, ended with Cristiano Ronaldo getting knocked out. The main man? Edinson Cavani from Uruguay!
Uruguay put in 2 goals past Portugal where both the goals were scored by Edinson Cavani. What a beauty! The first goal happened in a flurry when Suarez whipped in a cross from the left flank and Cavani beat the offside trap to ‘cheek’ it home.
In the 55th minute, Portugal took a short corner and Raphael Guerrero crossed the ball which Pepe headed home. The second goal for La Celeste happened just 7 minutes later when due to a defensive error by Portugal it was a 3-on-3 moment where Cavani was left wide open and he finessed his shot into the goal.
Even after this, Ronaldo won all of the hearts when he helped a limping Cavani off the field. Now Uruguay will face France in the Quarter Finals.
