Liverpool’s young right back Trent Alexander-Arnold has officially made an entry into the Guinness book of World Records for assisting 12 goals in the Premier League last season, the highest for a defender in any season.
The 21-year-old took over the reigns at right back and made the position rightfully his by delivering some top notch performances in the previous season. His cheeky corner vs Barcelona in last season’s Champions League semifinal proved to be pivotal as it saw the side progress to the final and win it for the sixth time.
Alexander-Arnold’s performances also saw him earn a place in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year. His 12 assists in the league saw him edge his teammate Andy Robertson by a single assist.
Speaking to the media following his entry into the Guinness book of World Records, Alexander-Arnold said it was a great honour and also credited the success to his teammates.

“He (Robertson) probably thought he had the competition wrapped up! Near the end of the season we both hit really good form, we were both getting lots of assists and it was good to help the team in those games that we needed to win,” said Trent.
“It’s an honour. I’ve always wanted to go forward and help the team to create as many chances as possible.
“It’s obviously down to the lads to put the ball into the back of the net, because football is a team game and without them this record wouldn’t be possible.
“It’s an unbelievably proud moment for me and my family, and something I hope will stand for a few years.”
