Lallianzuala Chhangte, the 26-year-old footballer from Mizoram, has etched his name in the annals of Indian football history. He has become the first Indian player to score 10+ goals in multiple seasons of the Indian Super League (ISL).

Chhangte’s journey to this milestone began with his debut in the ISL. His consistent performances and goal-scoring prowess soon made him a crucial part of his team, Mumbai City FC. His goals in both legs of the 2023-24 ISL semi-finals against FC Goa played a pivotal role in securing the Islanders a place in the final.

With his strike against FC Goa in the second leg of the semi-final, Chhangte took his goal tally for the season to 10. This achievement marked him as the first Indian player in the history of the ISL to score 10+ goals in multiple seasons.

Chhangte’s performances this season have been a joy to watch. Petr Kratky, the head coach of Mumbai City FC, relies on the Indian winger to create scoring chances, giving him the freedom to express his talent on the pitch. Thanks to this newfound belief in his abilities, Chhangte has been setting the stage alight for the Islanders and scoring goals for fun.

In terms of all-time statistics, Chhangte has scored 40 goals in the ISL, becoming the second-highest goal-scoring Indian after Sunil Chhetri. With 10 goals in the 2023-24 season, he is also the highest goal-scorer for Mumbai City FC, leaving behind the likes of Jorge Pereyra Diaz, Vikram Partap Singh, and more.
