Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni’s batting position for the upcoming World Cup has become a topic of interest considering the wicket-keeper batsman’s prowess with the blade.

Irrespective of the talks surrounding the drawbacks behind Dhoni batting higher up the order, CSK coach Stephen Fleming has clearly stated that the skipper of the side will be batting at No.4 for the side.

Fleming credited the thought behind the decision with the form MS Dhoni displayed in the same position last year with the yellow army. Dhoni emerged as the third highest run-getter in the side, with openers Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu leading the run charts.

The CSK coach added the importance of balance in the squad and revealed to Hindustan Times that Dhoni’s role in the squad won’t change. He said:

“Dhoni batted pretty much (at) No. 4 last year but we do use him in a little bit of a flexible role, so that won’t change,”

“His (Dhoni’s) form has been outstanding in the past 10 months. We have a new player as well (Kedar Jadhav) which is great. So, we’re really happy with the (batting) order and the thoughts around that,” Fleming was quoted at the event launch of CSK merchandise.
