Defending champions England have announced their squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team, led by Jos Buttler, is a blend of experienced players and promising talents.

The squad includes Jofra Archer, who is marking his return to international cricket after a year-long hiatus due to an elbow injury. His last appearance for England was in May 2023. Archer’s return bolsters the pace attack, which also features Mark Wood and Reece Topley.

The batting line-up is formidable with explosive hitters like Jos Buttler, Phil Salt, and Harry Brook. Jonny Bairstow, who recently scored a century in the IPL, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, and Liam Livingstone are other notable batters in the squad.

The all-rounders in the squad include Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, and Chris Jordan. Livingstone and Jacks can also contribute with the ball. The spin department is led by Adil Rashid, and supported by Moeen Ali and Tom Hartley.

Before the World Cup, the same squad will play a four-match T20I series against Pakistan, starting on May 22. All players currently participating in the IPL will return in time for this series.

England, the winners of the 2022 edition, will start their campaign in the T20 World Cup with a match against Scotland in Barbados on June 4. They are in Group B, which also includes Australia, Namibia, Scotland, and Oman.

IPL performances reward England Players

The recent performances of English players with the likes of the Captain himself Jos Buttler, Will Jacks, Phil Salt and Jonny Bairstow, have proven to be useful preparation to make it to the squad of T20 WC.

Jos Buttler smashed two match-winning centuries against RCB and KKR, both of them were regarded as the best innings this season.

The hard hitter Will Jacks, playing for RCB scored an unbelievable century against Titans this past weekend. Jacks completed his second fifty of the innings in just 10 balls which left the fans in awe.

Another opener Phil Salt has been a revelation for KKR this season. Opening the batting for his team Salt made significant contributions and proved himself as a powerplay basher.

Jonny Bairstow led his side Punjab Kings with a match-winning century against KKR in the highest successful chase in the history of the T20 format.

IPL has so far been a useful prospect for these players who are utilizing it to the fullest ahead of their title defence in the Americas in a month’s time.

With a balanced team comprising experienced players and young talents, England is poised to put up a strong performance in the tournament. The return of Jofra Archer adds significant strength to their bowling attack, and the team will be hoping to repeat their success from the previous edition.
