Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Pat Cummins heaped praise on young batter Abhishek Sharma, stating that he wouldn’t want to bowl against him. This statement came after SRH secured a four-wicket win against Punjab Kings (PBKS), where Abhishek played a crucial role.
Pat Cummins praise on Abhishek Sharma
Abhishek Sharma, a 23-year-old left-handed batsman, has been in formidable form this season. His fiery knock of 66 runs off just 28 balls against PBKS pushed SRH to the second spot on the IPL 2024 points table. Cummins reflected on Abhishek’s batting and revealed that he himself would never want to bowl against Abhishek.
Cummins’ praise for Abhishek is not unwarranted. The young batter has been a revelation this season, scoring a total of 467 runs in his 13 appearances so far. His explosive batting style and ability to score quickly have made him one of the most successful batters of IPL 2024.
Abhishek’s performance has not only been instrumental in SRH’s success but also instilled fear in the bowlers, including Cummins, who is his skipper at SRH. His ability to play with freedom against both pacers and spinners has made him a formidable opponent.
“He (Abhishek) is amazing. I wouldn’t want to bowl against him. He’s scary. Nitish is a class player, looks mature beyond his age, he is perfect for the top-order. Really satisfying. I haven’t played in finals before. Playing some really good cricket, excited for what’s ahead,” Cummins said.
In addition to Abhishek, Cummins also lauded Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has been a key player for SRH this season. Nitish, according to Cummins, is a class player who looks mature beyond his age and is perfect for the top order.
