Manchester United’s Brazilian midfielder Fred says he is looking forward to impressing ‘Professor’ Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of Sunday’s Arsenal clash.
The 26-year-old who was signed to Manchester United for a hefty amount of 52million pounds has largely been a helping hand in the squad at best. However, owing to United’s long list of injuries, Fred was allowed to be a part of United’s squad against Paris Saint-Germain and he played a crucial role in United’s 3-1 win over them.
Fred says he has Solskjaer, aptly dubbed ‘the Professor’, to thank for giving him a chance to show his merits and hopes that his performances against PSG at Parc des Princes can be a decisive moment in his career.
“Of course, things have been difficult for me,” he told United’s official website.
“I have been out of the team and that has been frustrating, but I have never let that get me down and have never let my head go down.
“I have trained hard, worked really hard and I knew that my time would come. Wednesday night really represented a good and important for me to be my best for Professor Ole.
“Ole, Michael Carrick and the coaching team had been talking to me, helping me to prepare for this moment.
“Yes, I believe that on Wednesday, when I came off the pitch, I felt that this was a turning point for me and an important moment.
“We, as a team, need to continue working hard so that we can put Manchester United back on top where we belong.”
