Klopp unhappy with Liverpool’s upcoming match schedule

Liverpool face Premier League and Champions League tests against Burnley and at Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in the space of a mere three days, and manager Jurgen Klopp is seemingly unhappy about the match schedule of his team, especially in a crunch time where opportunities at both trophies are at stake.

Liverpool saw Premier League title contenders Manchester City extend their lead at the top by 4 points after beating Watford 3-1 at the Etihad yesterday. While the Reds take on Burnley in the evening today, a mighty test at the Allianz Arena awaits Jurgen Klopp’s men when they visit Bayern Munich in the early hours of Thursday for their return leg in the Champions League.

The German coach believes a mere 3 days time won’t be sufficient enough for Liverpool’s preparations as failure to win both matches puts not only the PL title in jeopardy but also shatters their Champions League hopes.

Fuming at Liverpool’s coming time crunch, Klopp said:

“Of course there is a difference between playing on a Saturday or Sunday. If we had three days, we would do recovery on Sunday morning, Monday you can have a little session, Tuesday a proper session and Wednesday you play.

“Now it’s Sunday.

“That is why we will do it a bit different this time and train Tuesday morning here. But it is only the second day after the game and you can not have everybody fully (flat out),” he added.

As it stands, Liverpool trail Manchester City in the second place while they hope to have a plausible outcome against Bayern following a 0-0 draw at Anfield in the first leg.
