Viswanathan Anand played out his 10th straight draw to finish at an impressive third place in the Sinquefield Cup chess tournament on Wednesday.

The unbeaten Indian accumulated a total of six points in the strongest tournament finishing just half a point behind leader Ding Liren and the current world champion Magnus Carlsen.
With the scores tied for the top two spots, two rapid games, with a time-control of 25 minutes plus a 10-second increment from the first move, will be played to determine the winner of the cup.
In case a winner cannot be decided from this method, a two 5-minute blitz games with a three-second increment will follow. Even following this round a tie still exists, the Grand Chess Tour chief arbiter will decide on a way to break the deadlock.
Before the start of the final round, four players trailed Ding Liren by half a point. From those four only Carlsen was able to register a victory after his opponent Maxime Vachier-Lagrave squandered midway.
After Carlsen posted a win to move into top spot for a short while, Ding Liren later drew with Shakhriyar Mamedyarov to move joint top and force a tie-break to decide a winner. Carlsen’s final round win marked his second consecutive win after nine straight draws.
