PKL Review: U Mumba edge past UP Yoddhas while hosts Pune and Tamil Thalaivas play out a thrilling tie

An eventful day at the Pro Kabaddi League Pune leg saw U Mumba edge past UP Yoddhas. This was then followed by Puneri Paltans playing out a tie vs struggling Tamil Thalaivas.

U Mumba vs UP Yoddhas (39-36):

U Mumba came out victorious in a closely fought contest vs UP Yoddha in the Pune leg. The scoreline saw the Mumbai based franchise edge their opponents 39-36.

Abhishek Singh was the star for U Mumba tonight, as he picked up his fourth super 10 to end the game with 11 points. Surinder Singh also notched up a quite spectacular performance, collecting 6 tackle points.

The game however saw many ups and downs that kept the fans on the edge of their seats. UP Yoddhas had started tremendously well, inflicting the first all-out to take an early seven-point lead.

U Mumba however, came back strongly into the contest post the all-out and kept racking up the points. They then inflicted an all-out to reduce the lead to just one point before half time.

The second half saw both teams play in an aggressive manner. While Abishek Singh was displaying his fine form for U Mumba, it was Fazel Atrachali for the opponents that kept them at bay.

Towards the end of the game, U Mumba thought that they had closed the game at 37-31. But two super raids from Yoddhas meant that the lead was slashed out.

However, U Mumba held their nerve to clinch the game at the very end.

Puneri Paltans vs Tamil Thalaivas (36-36):

The second game of the night saw the home team Puneri Paltans take on a struggling Tamil Thalaivas. The match proved to be a thrilling contest as it ended in a tie.

Manjeet lead the attack for Pune, winning a totla of 11 points on the night. However it was Ajith V. Kumar that left everyone stunned after winning 18 points for Thalaivas.

The end of the first half saw Pune in the lead at 18-12. Pune were the first to inflict an all-out.

The second half saw Pune on most occasions dominante the play with Ajith Kumar keeping the visitors at bay.

Finally the game ended in a dramatic tie (36-36). While Puneri Paltans might feel that they squandered a winnable game, Thalaivas on the other hand will be happy to get a tie after 8 consecutive defeats.
