Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir recently stated that he wants the Indian management to pick Ishan Kishan ahead of KL Rahul in the upcoming Asia Cup Super 4 outing against their arch-nemesis Pakistan.

Kishan has racked up four consecutive half-centuries in the ODI format. According to Gambhir, Kishan is the right pick to have on the team at the moment.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul is expected to make his return after a long hiatus due to injury. He is currently the first-choice of wicket-keeper-batter in the national team. Gambhir reckoned that that Kishan is the right member for the team at the moment.
“India will make a huge blunder if they don’t play Ishan Kishan ahead of KL Rahul. The point is, when you’re gearing up to win the World Cup, you don’t see the name, you judge by their form. You choose the player who can perform and win you the World Cup. I feel Ishan Kishan has done everything he needs to do to be a frontrunner,” Gambhir explained in a chat with Star Sports.
Gambhir believes that they should look at his form as Kishan is in great form. He added:
“Just because he is Ishan Kishan and hasn’t played a lot of international cricket, you’re saying that KL Rahul should play before him. But if Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma were in place of Ishan Kishan, would KL Rahul be able to replace them? The answer is ‘no’,” Gambhir asserted.
