Marcus Stoinis produced a win out of nowhere against CSK

LSG had conceded 210 runs in the first innings, with Stoinis himself giving away 49 runs off his 4 overs. However, the Australian all-rounder turned the tables in the second innings. Promoted to the No.3 position, Stoinis unleashed his fury on the CSK bowlers, neutralizing Ruturaj Gaikwad’s first innings hundred.

Stoinis’ innings was a masterclass in power hitting. He revealed after the match that he was really angry at the halfway mark. This anger, however, did not cloud his judgment. Instead, it fueled his determination, leading to one of the most memorable innings of IPL 2024.

Stoinis was not alone in this record chase. Nicholas Pooran and Deepak Hooda played crucial cameos in the second innings. Pooran hit a quickfire 34 off just 15 balls, while Hooda remained unbeaten on 17 off just 6 deliveries. Their contributions were instrumental in maintaining the momentum of the chase.

Stoinis’ Hulk-like performance had a significant impact on the match and the tournament. His incredible hitting form helped LSG clinch a double over CSK in the group stage. The win also propelled LSG to the 4th position in the IPL points table.
