In the recent India vs. Sri Lanka 2nd T20I match, spin bowler Ravi Bishnoi delivered an outstanding performance, picking up three wickets and conceding only 26 runs in his 4-over quota. His stellar display earned him the Player of the Match award. But beyond his individual brilliance, Bishnoi credits his success to the unwavering support of two crucial figures: Suryakumar Yadav (the captain) and Shubman Gill (the vice-captain).

Ravi Bishnoi heaps of praise over SKY and Gill

Bishnoi praised Suryakumar’s captaincy, emphasizing that he has been a great leader. Having played under Suryakumar during the Australia series as well, Bishnoi appreciates the confidence and backing he receives from the skipper. As a bowler, there’s nothing more valuable than knowing your captain supports you wholeheartedly.

Bishnoi also lauded Shubman Gill’s deputy role. Gill’s captaincy during the Zimbabwe series was impressive, and he continues to fulfil his responsibilities effectively. Both Suryakumar and Shubman consistently back Bishnoi, creating an environment where he can thrive.

“Suryakumar is doing great captaincy. I have played under him during the Australia series as well. He has been good. Shubman Gill’s captaincy was also great. In Zimbabwe, he also did great as a captain. They always back me and as a bowler, you cannot ask for anything more than this when the captain backs you. Suryakumar and Shubman have both backed me,” Bishnoi said in the post-match press conference.

With this victory, India has already secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. The new era under Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership, alongside coach Gautam Gambhir, has begun on a positive note. As they aim for a clean sweep, Bishnoi’s performance stands as a testament to the power of trust and support within the team.
