After a blockbuster week of action in Pune, the action now shifts to Chennai at the conclusion of week 3 in the ongoing PKL Season 10. The home team Tamil Thalaivas will be in action against Patna Pirates, Haryana Steelers will go up against Telugu Titans later in the night. All games of this leg will be held at SDAT Multi purpose Indoor Stadium, Chennai.
PKL Season 10 Match 34: Tamil Thalaivas vs Patna Pirates
The first match in Chennai leg will see it’s home team go up against the most successful side in the competition Patna Pirates. Thalaivas had an on and off season with 2 wins and 2 losses from 4 games. They were not up to their full potential in the tournament yet and are at 11th position in the points table. Thalaivas would like to start their home leg with a huge win against the former champions.
Patna Pirates started their campain with two huge wins against Titans and Giants. But lost their momentum and rattled in the next 3 games. The last two games were close encounters against U Mumba and Panthers. They would hope to perform in crunch situations starting tonight against Thalaivas. They are positioned at 9th and a win tonight will take them to 6th spot.
What to Expect
A consistent performance is needed from Thalaivas to emerge victorious against Pirates. The frontline raiders Narender Hoshiyar and Ajinkya Pawar should continue their super form along with the all-round abilities of Sahil Singh. This will make the job hard for Pirates.
As said earlier, Patna Pirates need to overcome pressure situations and come out on top in crunch situations. The defenders especially are succumbing to the pressure in the final moments of the match. They also need to be on top in taking tactical decisions. The onus again lies on the raiders Sachin and Sudhakar M to get the team back to winning ways.
PKL Season 10 Match 35: Haryana Steelers vs Telugu Titans
Later in the night, the formidable Steelers will take on Titans. Steelers won 4 games after that horrifying defeat against Yoddhas in the season opener. Apart from that first game, where they lost with 30 points, Steelers displayed all-round performance and also held their nerve in some close encounters. They emerged as favourites to win the competition. A win tonight will take them to 2nd spot in the points table.
On the other hand, Telugu Titans are having a bizarre season similar to their previous campaigns. They are yet to win a game this year and are currently hovering at the bottom of the table. Titans miseries got to a stage where it has become a habit to offer free points to the opposition.
What to Expect
The dominant Steelers are clear favourites in this game. As their Points Difference(PD) is negative, they would like to use this fixture to change this component to positive. With the likes of Vinay, Siddharth Desai etc., it won’t be difficult task for them against a weak opposition.
Titans need to do something miraculous to defeat the roaring Steelers. They bought the start raider Pawan Sherawat for a record price. But he hasn’t performed to his potential. The defense unit is getting bullied by the opposition in every game and to produce a win against a side like Steelers, Titans need to define the odds.
