Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni was given a formal invitation to inaugurate the pavilion named after him at the JSCA Stadium. The stand was to be called Dhoni Pavilion, but Dhoni politely declined it.

MS Dhoni was asked to inaugurate the pavilion before the third ODI match between India and Australia in his hometown per Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) secretary, Debashis Chakraborty.

At the AGM last year, the decision was taken that the North Block stand that comprises media enclosure, as well as VIP boxes, would be named after Dhoni,” said Debashis Chakraborty.

We were deliberating whether to open it on 8th March. But when I asked MSD, he saidDada mein toh isika hissa hu. Ghar ka ladka apne hi ghar mein kya inaugurate karega? (I am a part of this ground. How can a person inaugurate something in his own home?)” [Transcript courtesy – Indian Express]

India will take on Australia in the third ODI on Friday. India is currently leading the five-match series 2-0.
