KL Rahul provides a resounding response to his strike rate critics, involving his own team LSG

KL Rahul, the captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has been under scrutiny for his strike rate in the IPL 2024. However, he silenced his critics with a stellar knock of 82 runs from 53 balls against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. This performance not only led LSG to a crucial win but also sparked a humorous exchange on social media.

LSG’s troll on KL Rahul’s SR

The criticism surrounding Rahul’s strike rate was acknowledged by the player himself in a viral video shared by LSG. In the video, actor and influencer Shubham Gaur jokingly suggested that Rahul should become India’s next Defence Minister, given LSG’s successful track record of defending scores in the range of 160s. Rahul responded with a light-hearted quip, asking if Gaur was also making fun of his strike rate.

This banter followed LSG’s 33-run win over Gujarat Titans, where Rahul scored 33 runs from 31 balls. Despite the low strike rate in that match, LSG successfully defended a total of 163. This led to the humorous suggestion that Rahul’s defensive capabilities on the cricket field could translate to national defence.

However, the joke seemed to have a positive effect on Rahul’s performance. In the matches following the viral video, Rahul’s strike rate significantly improved. He struck at 177.27 against Delhi Capitals, 144.44 against Kolkata Knight Riders, and 154.72 against CSK. His knock of 82 runs from 53 balls against CSK was particularly impressive, helping LSG chase a target of 177 runs with an over to spare.

Rahul’s performance in these matches demonstrated his ability to adapt and improve. His strike rate in T20 cricket has been a point of contention, with him scoring 4449 runs at a strike rate of 134.94 in his IPL career so far. However, his recent performances have shown a marked improvement, uplifting his season’s strike rate to 143.
