IPL 2019 Day 10: KXIP vs DC Preview

114

Coming on the back of impressive victories on Saturday, both Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Capitals take one each other in what looks to be an exciting clash at Mohali today.

Both Punjab and Delhi happen to be this season’s newest contenders for the play-off spots having recorded a bright start to their respective campaigns.

One major concern for Punjab after the game vs KKR was their death bowling and form of opener KL Rahul. They happened to sort out both these issues in their impressive victory over MI on Saturday.

Rahul brought back memories of 2018 season as he stood tall and took on MI’s pace attack smashing an unbeaten 71*.

With the side having tried out all spin combinations, they found their best pairing on Saturday as Murugan Ashwin bowled impressively. Added to this was the top notch display from Hardus Viljoen and Andrew Tye at the death, keeping things under their control.

All these factors put into the mix, it looks as though Punjab arrive to the game high on confidence and also with an advantage of playing consecutive home games.

Their opponents for today cannot be taken for granted as DC this season look as a side having a goal in front of them. Excitement lies within their side with players such as Pant and Shaw within their disposal.

The fearless batting line-up will be up for the challenge having beaten the red hot KKR in their previous game.

The game will be decided on which batsmen fares better as both sides pose a lineup where the batting power overweighs the bowling attack.

Team News:

Playing their second straight home game and with a win vs MI on Saturday, KXIP have no reason to change their side coming in to tonight’s clash.

Expected XI: KL Rahul (wk), Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Mandeep Singh, David Miller, Sarfraz Khan, Hardus Viljoen, Ravichandran Ashwin (cap), Murugan Ashwin, Mohammad Shami, Andrew Tye.

Meanwhile DC shuffled their pack in the previous game. This game will see them field a more or less same side. With the current bowling attack doing a satisfactory job and offering batting depth, Iyer might go unchanged.

Expected XI: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer (cap), Rishabh Pant (wk), Colin Ingram, Hanuma Vihari, Harshal Patel, Chris Morris, Sandeep Lamichhane, Kagiso Rabada, Amit Mishra.
