India faced a dramatic collapse on the final day of the first Test against New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, folding up for 462 runs in their second innings. This collapse has set New Zealand a target of 107 runs to win the match.

India’s Fightback in the First Test

India’s fightback began with a resilient partnership between Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant, who put together a 177-run stand for the fourth wicket. Sarfaraz played a brilliant knock, scoring his maiden Test century with 150 runs off 195 balls, while Pant fell just short of his century, getting out for 99 runs.

Collapse and New Zealand’s Target

However, the final session saw a dramatic turn of events as India lost seven wickets for just 54 runs in 24 overs. Pacer Will O’Rourke picked up 3-92, and Matt Henry took 3-102 to dismantle the Indian batting lineup. The collapse left New Zealand needing just 107 runs to win the match.

New Zealand’s Response

New Zealand’s openers walked out to the crease with a clear target in sight. The Black Caps will be looking to chase down the small target and secure a victory in their first Test on Indian soil since 1988.
