SFL – Sports for Life’s flagship SFL Football League culminated on 9th March with a grand award ceremony at Celebrations Sports Club at Lokhandwala, Andheri in Mumbai.
Over the past four months, the league witnessed an overwhelming display of talent, determination, and sportsmanship as 700 young footballers from 60+ teams competed across four age categories, playing 500+ matches in front of packed audiences. After a strongly contested playoff, we have the winners.
The final matches, held just before the award ceremony, saw intense competition as teams battled for the championship titles. Kandivali FC emerged victorious in the Under 7 category after defeating Juhu Beach United. In the Under 9 final, Conscient Sports triumphed over MH Oranje FC. Conscient Sports also claimed the Under 11 title after a strong performance against YSA. In the Under 14 (Girls Only) category, Mumbai Knights FC clinched the title by overcoming Fast FA.
The award ceremony was graced by esteemed Chief Guests: Mr. Varun Sood, renowned Bollywood actor, and Mr. Henry Menezes, former India goalkeeper who played over 500 professional and international games, and has served as Deputy Chairman of the AIFF Technical Committee and Ex-CEO of WIFA.
Talking about the league and his vision for the future, Sourjyendu Medda, CEO & Founder said: “SFL’s vision is to build India as a global sporting powerhouse by focusing on grassroots development. We will target key sports like Football, Cricket, Tennis, Basketball, Martial Arts, and more, ensuring broad-based, innovative youth engagement. Our first tournament, SFL Football League 2024-25, is an initial step towards achieving this grand vision. I am extremely delighted to see the overwhelming response from kids, parents & coaches. Leading up to the finals, SFL hosted a spectacular trophy reveal event at the Neville D’Souza Turf, featuring Mumbai Football Association President & Member of Maharastra State Assembly Mr. Aaditya Thackeray and Dronacharya Awardee Mr. Bimal Ghosh as Chief Guests. The league’s immense success was further highlighted by an enthusiastic response from fans, with over 5000 supporters across Mumbai participating in the “Fans’ Tournament of the Year” vote.
