Team India has been on a sensational victory run. Finishing the Australia ODI series at home with a brilliant 2-1 win, and flying over to New Zealand for the T20 series, and dominating the hosts with a 4 game streak. Currently on a 4-0 lead, Virat Kohli and the squad are eyeing for a perfect finish to the series, continuing their winning streak tomorrow and making it 5-0. But did you know that a scenario like this will be set a new record in cricket? Because if India wins the fifth and final match, it will be the first 5-0 whitewash of a T20 series ever!

While New Zealand has only lost one series without winning any matches, back in 2005 against England at home, when the visitors picked up 1 2-0 series victory.

However, a 5-0 whitewash in a T20 series is unprecedented, and if Team India manages to clinch victory once again in tomorrow’s final match of the series at the Bay Oval cricket ground, it will set a new benchmark for the brilliantly in form squad led by Virat Kohli.

Manish Pandey, the highest scorer for India in yesterday’s victory at the Wellington Regional Stadium, said in the post match interview that the team is willing to give it all in the next match for this historical achievement.

“And now we have an opportunity to make it 5-0 and it will be really amazing to do that. Come the fifth match, we will look to go 5-0 up, that is our plan. Nobody has done it before and especially India has not done it before. So, I think it will be a great start to do that.” Pandey told reporters.

The 30 year old scored his 3rd T20 half century off 36 balls yesterday, with three boundaries.

Both India and New Zealand are currently ranked 5th and 6th in the ICC Men’s T20 Team rankings respectively. The two teams have gone head to head in four T20 series previously, where the Black Caps have emerged victorious three times. India has already won the ongoing series, their second series victory against the Kiwis, and a historical 5-0 victory tomorrow will be the the cherry on top.
