Gautam Gambhir hails Yuzvendra Chahal for his brilliant performance for RCB in IPL 2020

The ongoing 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the UAE has witnessed quality performances – be it batting, bowling or fielding. While centuries came with ease, some terrific bowling shows grabbed the eyeball which also included Mohammed Shami, Shivam Mavi, Washington Sundar, Kagiso Rabada, Yuzvendra Chahal and a few.

While Kings XI Punjab’s Shami dismantled Delhi Capitals’ batting line-up to register his best IPL bowling figures of 15/3, Kolkata Knight Riders’ best buy Pat Cummins took the limelight while dismissing Rajasthan Royals captain Steve Smith, his national teammate. Alongside them, Rajasthan Royals’ seamer Jofra Archer, and Delhi Capitals pacer Kagiso Rabad, and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Rashid Khan have also done well so far.

Among them, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s experienced leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has already beaten everyone and came in the news due to his great show in the IPL 2020 so far where he has claimed 8 wickets in 5 games which came at an average of 18.00 as well.

Meanwhile, former India player turned commentator turned BJP MP Gautam Gambhir, who successfully captained Kolkata Knight Riders to two IPL titles during his cricketing career, said that Yuzvendra Chahal should get the attention more than he has been getting.

“Yuzvendra Chahal has been brilliant. We keep talking about Rashid Khan, Jofra Archer, Kagiso Rabada, Pat Cummins; but Chahal in IPL, especially in this season, has been right up there,” Gambhir said on ESPNCricinfo.

“We should be talking about Chahal much more. There is more hype around other bowlers. But he has done brilliantly for RCB,” Gambhir further added.

However, Chahal failed to do well against Delhi Capitals on Monday as he failed to take a wicket in his three overs spell. Royal Challengers Bangalore lost the game by a huge margin of 59 runs as the batsmen failed to chase down the total at the Dubai International Stadium.

Captain Virat Kohli top-scored with 43 off 39 with 2 fours and a six. However, Royal Challengers Bangalore will next play against Chennai Super Kings on October 10 and they will certainly try to get back in the winning zone as they have three wins from five matches so far in the cash-rich T20 league.
