The coronavirus pandemic has played it part in stopping the world of sports. Lawn Tennis is also a victim of the pandemic and tournaments all over the world has been stopped and suspended. Many individuals, including the coach of Serena Williams, has criticized the top-heavy prize distribution system of ATP, where the 100th ranked player cannot earn enough to lead a comfortable life playing the game. Amongst the overall negativity and criticism,  ATP has uploaded a video of the Top 20 rallies of the past decade, which includes incredible performances by Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and others.

The pandemic has resulted in a lot of postponements and suspensions in the Tennis circuit.

On 12 March, the ATP Tour and ATP Challenger Tour were initially suspended for six weeks due to the escalating health and safety issues caused by the coronavirus. Also, the WTA Tour and 125K Seriss were initially suspended for eight weeks. Then, on 17 March it was announced that the 2020 edition of French Open, originally scheduled for a time period of 24 May to 7 June, was being postponed to 20 September to October.

On 1 April, the 2020 edition of The Championships, Wimbledon was canceled, while the ATP and WTA suspensions were extended to 13 July. Wimbledon, the oldest tennis Grand Slam event, had previously been canceled only during World War I and World War II.

On 11 April, the 2020 edition of Rogers Cup, originally scheduled for 7 to 16 August, was cancelled.

Other sporting events to have been postponed includes most Football leagues in the world, including English Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Brasilerao. In the Cricketing world, the Indian Premier League 2020 also faces a closure. The Tokyo Olympics 2020 and UEFA Euro Cup 2020 has been rescheduled to 2021.
