Indian seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is back in action for the third ODI match between India and Australia which is taking place in Ranchi, Jharkhand.

He was rested for the first two ODIs and also the T20 series which the Australians won. Ahead of his comeback, he isn’t worried about his chances of making it to the squad. He is focussing on consistency.

His last ODI series was when India toured New Zealand and won the series 4-1. In that ODI series, Kumar took 7 wickets.

I’m not worried about who’s getting a chance and who’s not getting. More importantly, it’s about getting rest. Shami got rest in New Zealand, I got rest in this series. You want to be consistent and for that you want to be fit. That’s the reason why I took rest,” Bhuvneshwar said.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar also said that he is ready to show his batting talents as well if the situation arises as the first two ODI matches were very low scoring ones.

Depends on what the situation is. If there are a few overs left and there’s a batsman with me, I try to give the strike to him and hit a few balls. If there are many overs left and not many wickets, I just try to give myself the best chance to stay so that we can score as many runs as possible.” Kumar said.
