The novel Coronavirus pandemic has not only caused the cancellations and suspension of many sporting events across the world, many countries are not experiencing lock downs as to curb the further spread of the virus. With no activity to partake outside their homes, many people are trying to turn their homes into sports of several activities to keep themselves engaged in isolation, and such was the case of Australian Test cricket team captain Tim Paine’s. The veteran batsman was turning his garage into a temporary gym, which resulted in his credit card and wallet getting stolen from his car!
As all public gyms are now closed in the nationwide lock down in Australia, Tim Paine planned to set up a gym in his own garage. His car had to be moved outside to make space for the equipment, and the situation turned out very unlucky for the Aussie’s red ball format skipper.
Speaking in the SEN Breakfast podcast, Paine narrated how his credit card and wallet were stolen as he moved his car outside, which contained the valuables.
“I’ve actually just turned the garage into a bit of a home gym and I want to hang the (stocking) off the bit where the garage door opens,” the wicket keeper batsman said.
Soon after moving his car outside, he noticed that his vehicle was broken into, and his wallet containing his credit card was missing: “I went outside and the car door was open and the wallet’s gone.”
What added salt to the wound was when his card was used for a transaction, which Paine found out after receiving an alert from the his bank.
“I figured if I can, I can work on my cover drive while I’m at it, but I’ve actually hit a bit of a snag today because I moved the car out onto the street only to wake up this morning to a text from NAB (National Australia Bank) saying my credit card has been used.” he added.
However, Paine didn’t mention if the thief has been identified yet or not.
Australia has seen over 4000 positive case till date, along with 19 deaths.
