The Atlanta Hawks claimed a surprise 117-113 win over the Los Angeles Lakers despite LeBron James’ triple-double. Trae Young starred for the Hawks, and the rookie had 22 points and 14 assists. James had 28 points, 16 rebounds, and 11 assists but the Lakers lost anyway, falling beneath the .500 mark.

A new-look Grizzlies side lost 108-107 to the Spurs, despite a couple of their new recruits shining. Avery Bradley scored 33 points for Memphis, and Jonas Valanciunas recorded a double-double in his debut. LaMarcus Aldridge and Patty Mills scored 22 apiece as the Spurs clinched a close victory.
Nikola Vucevic had 25 points and 17 rebounds as the Magic rolled to a 118-88 win over the Pelicans. Anthony Davis struggled, managing to score just 3 points on the night. The Pelicans have struggled since the Davis trade fiasco, losing 8 of their last 11 games. Davis was 1-9 from the field and vocally criticised his side after the loss.
The Celtics won 112-109 against the 76ers, despite playing without Kyrie Irving. Gordon Hayward top-scored for Boston with 26 points. Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors won 115-108 against the Utah Jazz after a slow start. They trailed after three quarters but came back to win courtesy of 28 points from Kevin Durant.
