Manchester United picked up 3 points yesterday as they beat Newcastle United 2-0 in what wasn’t an entirely comfortable victory for the Red Devils.

Second half goals from Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford sealed the deal for their side.
However, one incident in the match led to much criticism and conversations among football fans of both the clubs and football pundits alike.
During the 72nd minute at St. James Park, the Magpies’ Jonjo Shelvey closed down on Paul Pogba and mauled down the Frenchman with his right boot.
Here, in the video, you can see the England international putting his right boot halfway up Pogba’s leg:
Absolutely scandalous Shelvey hasn't been sent off for that. pic.twitter.com/5Y6HIAa7Zw

The free-kick was justly awarded to United, but referee Andre Marriner didn’t send off Shelvey nor showed him a yellow card.
Commentator Jamie Carragher was left in disbelief as he said: “He should be off the pitch for that, Shelvey.”
Fans were left equally stunned by the decision and some of them took to social media to express their disbelief.
United’s win secured Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s fourth straight victory in charge, as they closed the gap on fifth-placed Arsenal to three points.
The Red Devils now face Reading in the FA Cup and will take on Tottenham Hotspurs on 13th January.
