The Coronavirus pandemic has severely gripped the world, and India has been under a nationwide lockdown since March 25, an event which will continue till April 14. All sports events are suspended, not only in India but all over the world. Olympics and Euro Cup has already been shifted to 2021, as Wimbledon and the European football leagues face are on the cusp of suspension. Hardik Pandya, though, is not taking the break lightly.

The Indian Cricket Team’s premier allrounder tweeted a video of him working out in order to maintain his fitness in the period of quarantine. He captioned it: “Quaran-training, Don’t forget about your personal fitness during the quarantine. Stay fit, Stay healthy…”

Hardik Pandya has been out of action since he played in the T20 International series against South Africa in September 2019. The Mumbai Indians allrounder had to undergo surgery for his back, which took place in India last year.

Interestingly, Hardik was to make his long-awaited return to international cricket in the One Day International series against South Africa, which got cancelled due to the pandemic. In his absence, Indian team management tried multiple options including but not limited to Vijay Shankar and Shivam Mavi, none of whom, except for a few flashes of brilliance, exactly clicked for the national team, and was mostly criticised by the media and fans alike. Pandya also misses the IPL 2020 tournament which was postponed in the wake of the nationwide lockdown and currently faces an unpleasant fate.

The versatile all-round performance of Hardik makes him an irreplaceable member of the current National team, and he will be an important factor in India’s fate in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, to be held in Australia later this year. Until then, it’s great for him to keep fitness to a well balanced level and keep waiting for his eventual return.
