
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 kicks off today, that is on the 30th of May, 2019. There was an Opening party at the mall on Wednesday, to start off the biggest event of the ICC calendar. Just before the party, all the captains met Queen Elizabeth at the Buckingham Palace.
There were pictures of the Indian captain Virat Kohli meeting the Queen posted across social media platforms. While many Indians were proud and overjoyed by seeing these pictures, some came up with hilarious comments on social media.
The Royal Family posted a picture of the Queen looking at Virat Kohli and captioned it as, “Captains including @Eoin16 and @imVkohli met Her Majesty and His Royal Highness before joining a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.”

The BCCI too had posted a picture on its Twitter handle saying, “Skipper meets the Queen #CWC2019”

What the people replied to the BCCI’s tweet had twitter in splits. There were some hilarious comments coming in for skipper Kohli. The Indian fans asked Kohli to get back the Kohinoor diamond that was taken from India, back to the subcontinent.

Meanwhile, talking about the tournament, the World Cup starts today, with hosts England taking on South Africa in London. The tournament will be played in a round-robin format which means that each team will face every other team once.
Kohli-led India will be starting their World Cup campaign a bit late compared to others, taking on South Africa on the 5th of June in Southampton.
