Former Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney recently praised Louis van Gaal, hailing him as the best coach he worked under, instead of United legend Alex Ferguson.
The DC United forward didn’t always have the most placid relations with Ferguson at Old Trafford.
The Scotsman signed him for the Red Devils in 2004 from Everton, when Rooney became the world’s most expensive teenager.
After working at the Theater of Dreams for 26 years, Ferguson resigned at 2013, after winning a total of 38 trophies, including 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, and two UEFA Champions League titles.
Van Gaal soon arrived at United in 2014, after Ferguson’s succesor David Moyes failling to complete a single season at the club.
