Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand (Treesa-Gayatri) have secured their spots in the BWF World Tour Finals 2024 in the women’s doubles category. This achievement makes them the only Indian representatives at the event, which will be held in Hangzhou, China from December 11-15, 2024.

The duo also became the only second Indian women’s doubles pair to make it to the World Tour finals after Ashwini Ponappa and N Sikki Reddy were featured in the 2021 edition of the tournament.

Treesa-Gayatri’s Road to BWF World Tour Finals

  • Rankings: Despite a second-round exit at the China Masters, Treesa and Gayatri’s consistent performances throughout the year, including reaching the semifinals at the Singapore and Macau Opens, were enough to place them in the top eight rankings.
  • Significance: This will be the first time the duo will participate in the World Tour Finals, marking a significant milestone in their careers.
  • Previous Performances: Their best results this year have come from the Singapore and Macau Opens, where they reached the semifinals but fell short of the final.

  • China Masters: In the China Masters, Treesa and Gayatri faced the top-ranked pair, Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning, and lost 16-21, 11-21 in the pre-quarterfinals.
  • Consistency: Despite the challenges, their overall performance and consistency have earned them a well-deserved spot in the World Tour Finals.
