Shaun Tait has been appointed as Bangladesh’s national fast bowling coach. Up until November 2027, the 42-year-old Australian will be a member of the Bangladeshi team. Throughout his coaching career, Tait has held positions as bowling coach for Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the West Indies.
Tait has played for his country 59 times in all formats and has taken 95 international wickets. He was a member of the team that won the 2007 Australian World Cup.
Tait was thrilled to engage with the fresh fast bowling talent emerging from Bangladesh’s ranks and believed that the cricket team was currently winning. Additionally, he believed that the chance to collaborate with Phil Simmons was too good to pass up.
“It’s a good time to be involved with the Bangladesh cricket team right now, a bit of a new era if you like. It’s been spoken about many times recently-the young talent with the fast bowlers-which is great. This is international cricket, not a development team, and everyone expects the talent to bring results, which is very much my focus with the fast bowling group and most importantly, getting more wins for the team.
“To have the opportunity to work with Phil Simmons is equally as exciting and I’m looking forward to the journey ahead, Tait said.”
The former pace bowling coach, Andre Adams, who had joined Bangladesh in March 2024, left when Shaun Tait joined the coaching staff. He participated in Bangladesh’s underwhelming runs in the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
