The third T20 International between India and New Zealand was a match to behold, owing to superb performances from both teams. The brilliant match went to a super over, and while on superover, Jasprit Bumrah was the only man Indian skipper Virat Kohli could trust to be economical and efficient. The decision turned out to be a failure, as Bumrah was aggresively attacked by Kiwi batsmen Kane Williamson and Martin Guptill, who scored 17 runs in the super over. It was anyways an off day for Bumrah as he shelled out 45 runs in his allotted quota of 4 overs, even before the super over.

Sanjay Manjrekar took to Twitter to speak about the inefficient over. He maintained that Bumrah is a special bowler but also urged him to use the crease a little more, which would be useful to create different angles for the deliveries, surprising batsmen in the process. “Watched that super over from Bumrah. He is such a fabulous bowler but he could use the crease a little more to create different delivery angles,” Manjrekar tweeted.

Sanjay Manjrekar giving bowling advice to one of the best bowlers India has produced in the last decade was viewed as amazing by much of the twitterati. Manjrekar was widely trolled over Twitter and other social media platforms. While some rejected Manjrekar for being an ordinary player as best, others panned the former Indian National player for so unabashedly giving bowling advice to Bumrah. Some brought back his past comments and joined it with this to create more laughter.
Let’s check out some of the comments here:
Stop it, you were an average player..

Can we have Manjrekar please shut up! Nice chilly weather up North. Why does not hop over to Shimla or Nainital & lock himself at a hill Resort to freeze his Brain!! What a relief he is NOT in NZ with the Team

Sanjay Manjrekar … It's easy to give lectures….Had you been there , you would have given 34 runs rather than 17.

1 bad day and even average players of their time become advisors to worlds best. Not implying that its bad to give advice, its just the credibility of the source of advice. I find it funny! 😆

Just like the way you did sweep shot in 1996 World Cup Semifinal against Srilanka…. He is a class apart it was one of his off days. Not like you who had off years…..

Just like how you could have used a bit more brain while batting, fun part is Bumrah can and will learn and come back.

While most commentors trolled Manjrekar for his advice, others maintained that becoming an Indian International takes a lot of hardworking, and Manjrekar as a former cricketer is in a place to give advice to a cricketer, at least more than the commentators, most or none of whom have played cricket competitively.
Even with Bumrah’s off day and Williamson and Guptill’s brilliance, India went on to win the highly competitive match, thanks to opener Rohit Sharma, who shined both on the initial 20 overs and during the super over.
