The news has brightened Rohit’s chances of making it to the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, which starts on November 22 in Perth. Initially, there were doubts about his participation as he stayed back in Mumbai to be with his wife for the birth of their second child. However, with the baby’s arrival, there is a good chance he might reach Perth just in time for the Test.

Rohit’s presence would be a major boost for Team India, solving both the leadership and opening combination issues. India has been struggling to find a consistent partner for Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rohit’s participation would provide stability. Additionally, KL Rahul, who was supposed to open, sustained an elbow injury during a practice match, further emphasizing the need for Rohit’s presence.

The Indian team and fans are eagerly awaiting Rohit’s decision, hoping he can make it in time for the crucial Test match. If Rohit stays unavailable, there’s a high chance that Jasprit Bumrah could lead them. Bumrah was the vice-captain for the Test series against New Zealand at home where India lost 0-3.
