After suffering a laceration to his spleen during a fielding error during the third ODI against Australia on October 25, India batsman Shreyas Iyer was released from the hospital in Sydney on Saturday, November 1. Iyer, who had a blunt abdominal injury, has reacted well to treatment after undergoing a small operation to stop internal bleeding.
Iyer is “recovering well” and steady, according to the board, and the BCCI Medical Team and experts in Sydney and India are pleased with his development. However, until he is given the all-clear to travel, he will stay in Sydney for follow-up consultations before going back home.
By Tuesday, October 28, Iyer was answering calls, preparing meals at home with the help of friends from the area, and even handling his daily tasks by himself. Prior to the T20I series, Suryakumar Yadav also provided an update on his health.
In its statement, the BCCI expressed its sincere appreciation to Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala in India and Dr. Koroush Haghighi and his staff in Sydney for making sure Iyer received the finest care possible for his injuries.
