World cup winning wicket-keeper Jos Buttler is widely renowned for his aggressive style of batting. The Rajasthan Royals’ ace has been part of the IPL for quite some while now and has been able to watch Indian batsmen from a whole other perspective.

In a Facebook interaction with his IPL franchise teammate and Kiwi leg-spinner Ish Sodhi, Buttler revealed his admiration for Rohit Sharma and claimed him to be effortless. He added:

“Rohit Sharma… I think is an awesome player. Effortless. Quite a lot of Indian players have that awesome style.”

Buttler was part of the Mumbai Indians’ camp for two seasons from 2016 and got to understand The Hitman’s style of play really well. He continued:

“One of the things I have seen with Rohit is that if he gets in, he scores big runs and really affects the game,” he said.

The wicket-keeper batsman went on to add that the short ball used to be a great ploy against Indian batsmen, but that is not the case anymore with the Indian batsmen, especially Sharma negotiating them with the utmost ease.

“He is a really good player with the short ball as well. It’s not really the case now, but I think a few years ago people used to attack Indian players with the short ball.

“But Rohit smashes them. Then you go fuller and he smashes them right down the ground.

“He has been fantastic for a long time and I just like the way he bats and the effortless nature in which he takes people down.”

Rohit Sharma brought out his best when he last faced Buttler in the group stage of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. The Hitman smashed his fourth hundred of the competition against the eventual champion in a steep run chase.
