The Professional Footballers’ Association revealed their team of the season for this campaign. Much of it is according to the script, but Paul Pogba’s inclusion has surprised many fans.

Manchester City and Liverpool dominate the side, and the two have been by far the best teams in the country. They are neck to neck in the title race, with City leading by one point in the table. Three games are left in the season, and the race is likely to be in the balance on the final day of the season.
Ederson is in goal, and Virgil van Dijk and Aymeric Laporte are the two centre-backs in front of him. Van Dijk is a favourite to scoop up the PFA Player of the Year award as well. Liverpool’s Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are the full-backs.
Fernandinho is the holding midfielder, flanked by Bernardo Silva and Pogba on either side. Pogba has impressed in flashes, but some other candidates like Georginio Wijnaldum were arguably better placed for the spot. Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero, and Sadio Mane round off the attacking trio. Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is also a notable omission from the list. The PFA Player of the Year award will be announced in the coming days.
