Pakistani prime minister and former captain of the Pakistani cricket team Imran Khan has congratulated Indian cricket team on becoming the first Asian team to win a test match in Australia.

This series was also special for the Indian team considering this was the first time in 71 years that India won a series in Australia, having first toured in 1947-48.

Imran Khan took to Twitter to congratulate Virat Kohli.

Congratulations to Virat Kohli and the Indian cricket team for the first ever win by a subcontinent team in a test series in Australia,” Khan tweeted.

India sealed the four-match series 2-1 after the rain-hit Sydney Test ended in a draw on Monday.

Virat Kohli was very happy after the win and said that this series is a stepping stone for this team to inspire the next lot of Test cricketers.

I want to say I’ve never been more proud of being part of a team, than this one right here,” said Kohli.

The boys make the captain look good. By far, this is my biggest achievement. It’s at the top of the pile,” Kohli added.

Coach Ravi Shastri said: “I will tell you how satisfying it is for me. World Cup 1983, World Championship of Cricket 1985 – this is as big, or even bigger because it is in the truest (Test) format of the game. It’s Test cricket, which is meant to be the toughest.
