Team India take a 2-0 lead in the 5 match ODI series after bundling out New Zealand for 234, having set a target of 325 for them to chase.

India continued with their winning streak as they went on to beat New Zealand in the 2nd ODI by 90 runs. Kuldeep Yadav continued from where he left off as he once again picked up four wickets to clean up New Zealand’s middle order. The chinaman spearheaded the Indian attack as they bowled out the hosts for 234 in the 325-run chase.
Yadav finished with incredible figures of 4/45. He picked up key wickets in the middle overs including those of Tom Latham and Henry Nicholls to leave NZ in a fix. MS Dhoni’s lightning quick work behind the stumps was also on display as the former skipper combined with Kedar Jadhav to script Ross Taylor’s dismissal.
Yuzvendra Chahal and Bhuvneshwar Kumar each got two apiece while Shami got the precious wicket of Kiwis skipper Kane Williamson, which turned out to be a key factor in turning the tides in the visitor’s favor. Doug Bracewell (57) played an excellent cameo in the end reaching to his fifty in no time, but it was a little too late to script any late comeback.
Earlier India had won the toss and skipper Kohli had no hesitations in electing to bat first. Openers, Rohit Sharma (87) and Shikhar Dhawan (66) gave India a solid start as the duo stitched their 14th 100-run partnership, adding 154 runs for the first wicket.
But neither of those could go on to score a century as they were dismissed by the seamers Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson, respectively.
India captain Virat Kohli and Ambati Rayudu who walked in next settled in for a bit and then tried to up the tempo. They couldn’t inflict much damage as the former was dismissed for 43 by a short delivery from Boult. Rayudu scored 47 runs, as he and MS Dhoni took India past 250.
Following Rayudu’s dismissal Jadhav along with Dhoni played crucial knocks to take the team’s score past the 300 run mark. Last over saw them smash 21 runs of Lockie Ferguson’s bowling to post a mammoth 324/4 on board. Dhoni ended on 48 off 33 balls while Jadhav played a important cameo scoring 22 off just 10 balls.
Thus Rohit Sharma was adjudged the man of the match for his splendid knock off 87 that set the tone for India to go big in the end. The two teams will meet again on Monday where skipper Kohli would look to seal the series and return home on a high.
