PSG reached the finals of the Coupe de France tournament and required a victory over Rennes to complete their fourth double in five seasons. Dani Alves and Neymar scored a goal each in the first half to give the Ligue 1 winners the lead before the youngsters of PSG made horrendous errors which led to Rennes staging a comeback and taking the tie from them in penalties.
Neymar, infuriated at his side’s loss, punched a fan after their loss before lashing out at his younger team-mates. According to journalist Marcelo Bechler, Neymar told them that they were too lippy and should have used their ears more. If things carried on like that, the team wouldn’t reach too far.

This was Neymar’s second game after recovering from an injury that took away three months of his career. He attacked the wide spaces of the pitch and steered in when necessary to create all sorts of problems for the defense.
After taking a 2-0 lead in the first half, underdogs Rennes upped the ante in the second half and leveled the playing field. Kyllian Mbappe was shown a red card for a studs-up challenge on a Rennes’ player before PSG lost the game 6-5 on shootouts.
