The 26-year old Indian pacer Navdeep Saini landed himself in trouble after an animated celebration after getting the priced wicket of Nicholas Pooran on Debut against the Windies at Lauderhill on Saturday. India’s latest recruit in the limited overs format Saini found in the books of the Match Referee for breaching the Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.
The Karnal-born Fast bowler who plays first-class cricket for Delhi had a dream start to his International career as he picked up three wickets on debut and bowled a maiden final over against the defending T20 World Champions West Indies.
Captain Kohli had brought on Navdeep Saini in the fifth over of the game where West Indies had already lost its openers and were looking to make the comeback with Nicholas Pooran looking in good touch as he hit two sixes but eventually was caught out by the Indian Wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant. A jubilant Saini was seen fist pumping and that caught the Referees eye and the Indian speedster was given a demerit point.
Courtesy the Saini’s heroics in the first T20 India eventually completed a 4-wicket win in a low scoring T20 international. India will play the final T20 against West Indies in Guyana on the 6th August, with the Asians already clinching the series they would look to try their bench strength.
