With multiple national titles under his belt, he enters PPL Season 2 as the top-ranked Indian in the 70 kg category, hungry for victory and ready to lift Mumbai Muscle to the top.
As the league gets ready to air on Sony Sports Network from August 5, we caught up with Jogendra Yadav for an exclusive interview ahead of the season.
Q: Jogendra, you’ve been at the top of the 70 kg category for some time now. What keeps you motivated to keep pushing the limits?
For me, it’s all about the love for the sport. Every time I step on the table, I feel alive. Being a gym owner also helps, I’m surrounded by training, discipline, and like-minded people every day. But honestly, the biggest motivation comes from within knowing I can still get better, stronger, smarter.
Q: How has the experience been with the Mumbai Muscle franchise?
It’s been fantastic. Mumbai Muscle has created a great environment for athletes professional, well-structured, and very team-oriented. Everyone supports each other, from rookies to veterans. The ownership and management have really made us feel valued, and that pushes me to give my 100%.
Q: What does your daily training routine look like leading into PPL Season 2?
I’m doing two sessions a day morning strength training in the gym and evening table practice with my training partners. A lot of focus is on wrist endurance, back pressure, and side hits. Nutrition and recovery are just as important, especially at this level.
Q: The Pro Panja League has changed the face of Indian armwrestling. What’s your take on its growth?
PPL has been a game-changer. Earlier, armwrestling was seen as a hobby. Now, with this kind of broadcast exposure and professional setup, it’s become a career path for many athletes. Fans know our names, sponsors are coming in it’s everything we dreamed of.
Q: Any particular rival you’re looking forward to facing this season?
I’m ready for anyone who comes across the table. But yes, there are a couple of strong pullers I faced last season where things were close, I’d like to settle those scores. No bad blood, just healthy competition. This season we have lot of newcomers like Deepanker Mech, Manoj, Vanlallura and Raymond who I would like to test my strength against.
Q: Lastly, any message for your fans and the Mumbai Muscle supporters?
Thank you for always standing by me. Your support means the world. To all Mumbai Muscle fans this season, we’re coming harder, faster, and stronger. Keep cheering, and I promise you fireworks on the table!
