Ah yes, its Zlatan Ibrahimović again who is making the headlines. Well, not exactly himself, but his boyhood club Malmö FF fans. Very, angry fans. SO angry in fact, they have defaced their superstar’s statue, because the Swedish superstar purchased stake in their sworn rival side Hammarby IF.

After leaving Old Trafford in 2018, the 38 year old veteran spent two breathtaking seasons with LA Galaxy, scoring 52 goals in 56 appearances, recenrly announced on Twitter about his departure before the 2020 season, and return to the European continent.

Although the former Inter Milan, PSG and FC Barcelona superstar’s next destination is being speculated, it is highly rumoured that the Sweden international will end up in his home country with Hammarby IF.

A couple of days ago, Zlatan posted a clip on his official Instagram, depicting his name on the kit of Hammarby, on the same day it was revealed that the forward has bought a quarter of stake in the club. Check it out below-

Now, this has created a giant outrage in the Malmö FF fanbase, as the supporters were expecting the Himmelsblått youth academy graduate to return at the Stadion in Stockholm. But, Zlatan’s ongoing business with their Allsvenskan rivals is not received very well.

The statue of the player, unveiled in October outside the Stadion has been attempted to set ablaze, with the face wrapped in plastic, and toilet seat cover on the statue’s right hand- these were the ways how the fans showed their despise towards their former favourite player.

There were even reports of leaving fermented fish on the doorstep of Zlatan’s house in Stockholm, and ‘Judas’ written on the door.

Surprisingly, the usual outspoken Zlatan himself is yet to make any comments on the matter. However, it is evident that Hammarby or not, his childhood club will now consider him a subject of abhorrence.
