Matthijs De Ligt is hot property as we speak. At the age of 19, he is a tall figure in the centre of Ajax’s incredible defence. Not to forget, he’s the captain of the club’s first team. Yes you read that right – the first team. No wonder Barcelona are keen to bag the services of the Dutchman after already securing the transfer of Frenkie De Jong, who’s another talented Ajax midfielder.

De Ligt has suitors from all across Europe. Liverpool have recently involved themselves in the transfer saga but the latest to court De Ligt are none other than the Biaconeri. Juventus are going full throttle to become an European superpower. With the talismanic services of Ronaldo upfront, a promising defender in the form of De Ligt would certainly take them to the pinnacle of European football.
Speaking to Tuttosport, De Ligt said: “[A move to Juventus] could happen, but there are others who are also interested.
“We’ll see at the right time. At the moment I’m fully focused on Ajax and my agent [Mino] Raiola is taking care of the rest. Also, De Jong hasn’t spoken to me about a move to Barcelona.
“I really admire [Giorgio] Chiellini, he’s a very strong centre-back and one of the best ever. I also appreciate [Leonardo] Bonucci. They are two of the best centre-backs in Europe and two examples to follow for a young player like me.”
This statement does give the transfer saga an entire new dimension. However, in today’s world of 200M deadline day transfers, anything could transpire from here on.
