Apurvi lived up to her billing as she topped the qualification charts whereas India’s Elavenil Valarivan finished second. Anjum Moudgil couldn’t qualify for the final round as she finished eleventh in the Qualifiers.

Apurvi started the final round on the backfoot but kept China’s Luyao Wang constantly in check. She got in front of her when the single shot phase began and the contest between the two extended till the last round. There, she shot 10.4 and clinched the gold medal by 0.2 points.

Elavenil’s wait for winning her first medal in the World Cup, on the other hand, continued as she missed the bronze medal by a whisker. She shot an impressive 10.7 in the final round but fell short by a margin of 0.1.

India have sealed five Olympic berths in rifle and pistol shooting and would like to add more to their tally when the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Munich continues on Monday.
