Solidifying his loyalty with Kerala Blasters, Indian national football team center-back Sandesh Jhingan has signed a four-year extension that will see him donning the club’s jersey until the end of the 2022-23 season. He captained the team in the previous season but the side finished a paltry ninth only above former champions Chennaiyin FC.

Kerala Blasters is undergoing a total rejig under their new CEO Viren D’ Silva, having already signed FIFA U-17 World Cup player Rahul KP and 20-year-old Lovepreet Singh from Indian Arrows.
“Sandesh is as hungry and determined as he was when he debuted for Kerala Blasters five years ago. The club shares his ethos to work hard and leave nothing to chance. In Sandesh’s own words, he says there is some unfinished business here at Kerala Blasters. Let’s win some trophies together for Kerala,” said Viren.
Sandesh Jhingan has played for Kerala Blasters since their inaugural season and was an instrumental part of the 2014 and the 2016 season where they finished runners-up. However, he is yet to lift a trophy with them and would like to fulfill the task in the upcoming season.
“I’m staying home. This club, the fans and the state itself have given me a lot. It has helped me be who I am today, so I am delighted to have extended my time at the club.”
