India emerged victorious in the inaugural U-19 Women’s T20 Asia Cup, defeating Bangladesh by 41 runs in a thrilling final held at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur. This historic win marks a significant milestone in the journey of Indian women’s cricket, highlighting the talent and potential of the next generation.

India, led by their dynamic captain Niki Prasad, won the toss and chose to bat first. Despite early setbacks, with wickets falling at regular intervals, Gongadi Trisha played a pivotal role in stabilizing the innings. Trisha’s composed and aggressive approach saw her score a crucial 52 off 47 balls, including five boundaries and two sixes. Her partnership with Jiya Roy, who chipped in with 27 runs, was instrumental in helping India post a competitive total of 117 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs.

In response, Bangladesh found themselves struggling against a disciplined Indian bowling attack. Aayushi Shukla, the tournament’s leading wicket-taker, continued her impressive form, claiming 3 wickets for 17 runs in her 3.3 overs. Shukla’s ability to extract movement and maintain pressure proved too much for the Bangladeshi batters. Sonam Yadav and Parunika Sisodia also contributed significantly, taking two wickets each, ensuring that Bangladesh was bowled out for 76 runs in 18.3 overs.

Captain Niki Prasad, in her post-match interview, expressed immense pride in her team’s performance.
